Settling for the status quo is subjective, I realize this. I want to be known as a radical, I want to live a life that Jesus would approve of. This past week has been a little on the stressful side, this past two months has been full of change, stress, learning, seeking God. Decisions have been made, those decisions have been questions. Life happens, but one thing is constant, God. He is there all the time and frankly I cannot seem to get away from him and live my life out how I want to live it.
I don't know if it has to do with the books I've been reading, what God has been teaching me through the Bible, what God has been teaching me through relationships with people, or a combination of all of the above. All I know is my world is being turned upside down and it is an awesome thing. I have learned that in the process of learning to trust God, He will push you to your absolute limits, this stretching I guess.
I will list the books I have either read or are currently reading in the past few months and it may give an insight as to why my thoughts and growth are heading in the direction they are.
Currently reading:
Sex God by Rob Bell
Irresistible Revolution by Shane Claiborne
War With No End (This one would piss off 99% of people I know) by John Berger, Naomi Klein, Hanif Kureishi, China Mieville, Arundhati Roy, Ahdaf Soueif, Joe Sacco, Haifa Zangana
I just started:
Call To Commitment by Elizabeth O'Connor.
I finished:
The Shack by William Young
Divine Nobodies by Jim Palmer
Joshua by Joseph F. Girzone
Jim and Casper Go To Church by Jim Henderson and Matt Casper
Revolution by George Barna
Pagan Christianity by Frank Viola and George Barna.
If you were raised in church and ever confused about anything regarding Christianity feel free to read this list above, it will mess you up more. Or maybe it will get the wheels turning as to what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ and what the Kingdom of God is really all about.

The sequel to “Pagan Christianity?” is out now. It’s called “Reimagining Church”. It picks up where “Pagan Christianity” left off and continues the conversation. (“Pagan Christianity” was never meant to be a stand alone book; it’s part one of the conversation.) “Reimagining Church” is endorsed by Leonard Sweet, Shane Claiborne, Alan Hirsch, and many others. You can read a sample chapter at
http://www.ReimaginingChurch.org
It’s also available on Amazon.com. Frank is also blogging now at http://www.frankviola.wordpress.com
